Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Tax Accountant to support our client—an established financial advisory and accounting firm based in Queensland, Australia. Renowned for delivering tailored solutions in taxation, superannuation, retirement planning, and investment management, the firm is committed to helping its clients achieve financial freedom. In this role, you will prepare financial statements and tax returns for various entities, manage BAS, FBT, and payroll tax returns, support clients with accounting software and ATO compliance, assist with audits and reconciliations, and stay current with tax legislation—all while collaborating with managers to deliver high-quality and personalized service.

Selection Criteria:

  • A graduate of Business or Commerce with an Accounting major (preferred).
  • 2–4 years of proven experience in Australian taxation, with familiarity in using Xero accounting software
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards (AASB and IFRS) and tax laws, including GST, FBT, income tax, and tax compliance.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and accounting software (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Reckon).
  • Willingness to learn new processes and undergo training in SMSF (Self-Managed Superannuation Fund) administration
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working alone or with a team.
  • Communicates clearly and delivers effective client support.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of financial accounts and income tax returns for companies, trusts, SMSFs, partnerships, and individuals.
  • Preparation of business activity statements (BAS), FBT returns, payroll tax returns, and special-purpose reports.
  • Assist with collation of client records and audits related to payroll tax, ATO compliance and superannuation.
  • Handle client queries regarding accounting software (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Reckon), ATO correspondence, and tax compliance.
  • Review journal adjustments, perform reconciliations, and ensure supporting work papers are accurate.
  • Stay updated on changes in Australian tax legislation and accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with managers to enhance client service and provide tax advice based on individual client needs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in systems and work practices.
