Sonia Foods Industries Limited, a wholly owned Nigerian company and manufacturer of Sonia Tomato Paste is making major improvements to its Shagamu, Ogun State factory plant as part of an ongoing plan to meet growing demand for its products and maximize efficiency.
Our History
Sonia Foods Industries Limited is a wholly owned Nigerian company incorporated in June 2006 with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria - RC: 6562288. The company is a member of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), a Member of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries and a member of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.
From date of incorporation to 2009, the products imported and distributed by the company were wholly produced abroad for Sonia Foods Industries Ltd. While these importation processes was ongoing, the company commenced the building of a mini local manufacturing plant with the aim of producing some of her imported food products in Nigeria. This mini plant is located on a land mass of 14,800 square meters at Ibafo, Ogun state of Nigeria with an initial installed capacity of 5MT/HR of tomatoes paste production. In 2010, the company completed her mini manufacturing plant and commenced full production of one of her major products - tomatoes paste. This is because the company has acquired enough capacity and experience to carry on such manufacturing business in Nigeria in spite of its associated difficulties.
In 2012, the company commenced a heavy expansion project by building another manufacturing plant of over 64,700 square meters at Shagamu, Ogun state. The plant was completed and commissioned for operation in February 2013 and the tomato paste production capacity increased by 7MT/HR for various sachet sizes of 400g, 210g and 70g respectively. In June 2013 the company completed the installation of second production line which is for full production of preforms and preforms caps (plastic cans). The installation capacity of the preform and cap injection molding machine is 8MT/HR In April 2015, the company increases her production capacity by installation of additional machineries for production of tomato paste in tins of various sizes (400g, 210g, and 70g). The production capacity of this additional machine is 7MT/HR for each size. Due to these expansion projects, the Company also built a downloading and PRMS station for compressed natural gas which is to power two heavy duty gas generators (500KVA each) and two set of boilers.
Also, a total of 160,000 litres water reservoir was built by the company to take the factory's water needs. Presently, plans for additional installation of another production line for full production of various kinds of juice and cubes in in progress. The expected minimum installation capacity is 5MT/HR respectively. As part of the company's expansion programmed, we intend to vertically integrate backwards. We are in the process of building an ultra-modern factory and farms in some states in Nigeria that would have the capacity of producing the tomato concentrate. Our estimate is that the said production would commence and be completed within 36 months from February 2016.
