Description
Data Governance Framework & Strategy
- Define and support the implementation of a global data governance structure (roles, responsibilities, escalation paths).
- Align data governance framework with business processes and S/4HANA global template.
- Establish data ownership and stewardship across markets and business units.
- Develop governance policies and procedures for master data management.
Master Data Standards & Policies
- Define and harmonize global standards for core master data objects (e.g., Material, BP-Customer, BP-Vendor, GL Account, Profit Center, Cost Center).
- Document data definitions, attributes, dependencies, and usage.
- Enforce naming conventions, formats, mandatory fields, and validation criteria.
- Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory data policies.
Data Quality Management
- Conduct data profiling to assess current data quality and establish baseline metrics.
- Define and implement data quality rules (e.g., completeness, consistency, uniqueness).
- Monitor and report data quality metrics throughout the lifecycle.
- Support data cleansing activities and root cause analysis of data issues.
Master Data Lifecycle Governance
- Define lifecycle processes for master data (creation, change, deactivation).
- Design approval workflows and audit trails.
- Ensure alignment with compliance and regulatory requirements.
Data Mapping, Transformation & Migration
- Collaborate with functional leads and migration teams to define source-to-target mapping rules.
- Validate transformation logic and maintain mapping documents and lookup tables.
- Participate in mock migration cycles and validate data integrity pre- and post-migration.
- Support reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy of migrated data.
Stakeholder Engagement, Communication & Training
- Engage stakeholders to align on data standards and governance processes.
- Act as liaison between business and IT for data governance-related issues.
- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and onboarding for data stewards and owners.
- Develop communication plans to promote data governance awareness.
- Address cultural and organizational challenges in adopting global standards.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Advanced degree or certification in Data Governance, Data Management, or related disciplines is a plus
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of master data domains (e.g., Material, Customer, Vendor, GL Account)
- Proficiency in data profiling, cleansing, and quality assessment tools
- Familiarity with ERP systems, especially SAP ECC and S/4HANA
- Knowledge of data migration processes and tools
- Experience with data mapping, transformation logic, and reconciliation techniques
Governance & Compliance Knowledge
- Deep understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data (e.g., GDPR, SOX)
- Ability to define and enforce data standards and business rules
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
- Strong analytical skills to identify data issues and root causes
- Ability to interpret data quality metrics and drive improvement initiatives
- Experience in lifecycle management of master data
Communication & Collaboration
