Job Description

Position Title: General Accounting Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized General Accounting Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our accounting department by performing a variety of clerical and bookkeeping tasks. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of our financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our daily financial processes.


  1. Accounts Payable (A/P): Assist with processing invoices, matching purchase orders to invoices, obtaining payment approvals, and preparing checks or electronic payments.
  2. Accounts Receivable (A/R): Assist with preparing and sending customer invoices, posting customer payments, and monitoring outstanding balances.
  3. Data Entry: Accurately enter daily financial transactions into the accounting software (e.g., journal entries, vendor invoices, customer payments).
  4. Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
  5. Record-Keeping: Maintain an organized and accurate system of physical and digital financial records.
  6. Reporting: Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports as needed.
  7. Vendor & Customer Communication: Respond to routine inquiries from vendors and customers regarding payment status or invoice discrepancies.
  8. General Support: Provide administrative support to the accounting department, including filing, scanning, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  9. Ad-hoc Tasks: Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-2+ years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, chart of accounts).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel (lookups, pivot tables are a plus).
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
  • Excellent data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
