Job Title: Account Officer (Microfinance Development Officer)

Employment Type: Full-time | Regular


 The Account Officer (Microfinance Development Officer) is responsible for organizing, recruiting, training, and managing GPMI’s members or clients. This role ensures the proper implementation of microfinance products and services in alignment with GPMI’s established procedures, policies, and systems.


General Description of Tasks

  • Implement products and services according to GPMI’s standard operating procedures.
  • Make simple, low-risk decisions to achieve set targets.
  • Prepare simple and standardized reports.
  • Ensure adherence to GPMI policies, procedures, and core values.


Specific Tasks

a. Select Potential Area for Microfinance Operations

  • Conduct area surveys or market studies as assigned by the Branch Supervisor.
  • Gather barangay profiles (e.g., population, establishments, presence of other financial institutions).
  • Coordinate with concerned government offices or agencies regarding GPMI’s presence in the area.

b. Promote Microfinance Products and Services

  • Distribute flyers and promotional materials.
  • Conduct or facilitate projection meetings with potential members or clients.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding GPMI’s products and services.

c. Form Groups of Clients

  • Coordinate with barangay officials for group formation.
  • Conduct credit and background investigations.
  • Organize groups and centers.
  • Train and orient group and center leaders (Center Leader, Treasurer, Secretary) on their roles and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the completion of required documentation for members or clients to access GPMI services.

d. Facilitate Center Meetings

  • Check attendance and participation.
  • Facilitate learning sessions.
  • Counsel clients on personal, family, or business matters.
  • Resolve conflicts among clients.
  • Monitor members’ or clients’ business progress.

e. Process Applications for Loans and Other Services

  • Issue loan applications.
  • Analyze applicants’ qualifications for product or service eligibility.
  • Evaluate loan applications and insurance claims.
  • Recommend qualified loan applicants.

f. Collect Dues

  • Create membership, loan, and savings records in the loan system.
  • Receive and record payments.
  • Sign repayment schedules and issue official receipts.
  • Consolidate and deposit collections.
  • Turn over deposits or collection slips to the Branch Finance and Administrative Assistant (BFAA).
  • Investigate reasons for delayed payments and manage delinquent clients.

g. Transaction Reporting

  • Prepare weekly production reports.
  • Submit required product and service reports on schedule as directed by the Branch Supervisor or GPMI.

h. Administrative Work

  • Report directly to the Branch Supervisor in the assigned area.
  • Attend weekly meetings as scheduled by the Branch Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
