Job Description

Show original text

We are looking for a protocol engineer with a deep understanding of blockchain underlying technology to lead the design and implementation of foundational standards and reference architectures. This role will bridge technology, product, and strategic scenarios to promote the application of blockchain technology within enterprise-grade infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities

1. Lead the design of project specifications, including the relay layer kernel and cross-chain protocol. Responsible for the design and implementation of a permissioned relay chain kernel based on Substrate/Polkadot: consensus/finality, message queues (XCM/HRMP), on-chain governance, and permission domains;

2. Implement cross-chain security and bridging, prioritizing light clients (ETH/SOL, etc.), supporting two-phase commits, finality thresholds, and exception rollbacks;

3. Develop reference implementations based on specifications, write CI/CD processes and scripts, and possess basic operational capabilities;

4. Coordinate resources across product, technology, market, and operations teams to quickly resolve dependency issues and enhance collaboration efficiency;

5. Continuously track industry trends, competitor dynamics, and cutting-edge technologies to form analytical insights that support strategic decision-making;

6. Apply agile and lean methodologies to optimize processes, shorten delivery cycles, and improve delivery quality;

7. Identify potential risks and bottlenecks, formulate contingency plans, and ensure projects progress as scheduled;

Qualifications

  • Background in computer science or related fields, with experience in blockchain lower-level development;
  • Experience in Substrate node development, proficient in Rust; background in compilers or virtual machines is a plus;
  • Outstanding Rust engineering skills (unsafe/concurrency/performance profiling), proficient in Substrate FRAME and on-chain runtime development; familiar with Polkadot XCM and HRMP/queue semantics;
  • Understanding of cross-chain and consensus mechanisms: practical experience with light client validation, finality (GRANDPA, HotStuff-like), two-phase commits, and cross-domain rollback mechanisms;
  • Familiarity with the architecture and modules of conventional node servers, proficient in CI/CD, K8s, and deployment tools;
  • Familiarity with national cryptography systems/HSM/TEE engineering; basic understanding of security compliance;
  • Ability to write clear technical specifications (MUST/SHOULD/MAY) and design auditable engineering closed-loops.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public chain developers (e.g., Geth, Reth, Substrate background) with experience in cross-chain, lower-level VM, and infrastructure development.

Project Overview

Lollipop is building an interconnected blockchain world, enabling Solana developers to use Polkadot's multi-chain infrastructure without leaving the ecosystem, while allowing Polkadot developers to access the rich DApp ecosystem of Solana with one click, showcasing the infinite possibilities of PolkaVM.
