I. About the Position

The Safety Officer (SO2) is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at the construction site. This includes conducting regular site inspections, ensuring compliance with local safety regulations (e.g., DOLE OSH Standards in the Philippines), and promoting a culture of safety among workers and contractors.


II. Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings and safety orientations for all site workers and new hires.
  • Inspect the site regularly to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Enforce the implementation of approved Construction Health and Safety Programs (CHSP).
  • Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure availability at all times.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, or accidents and submit detailed reports with recommendations.
  • Maintain records of site safety inspections, trainings, violations, and corrective actions taken.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure all operations are carried out safely.
  • Assist in the preparation of risk assessments, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
  • Participate in emergency drills and ensure emergency response equipment is in place and functional.
  • Ensure compliance with government safety regulations (DOLE, DENR, LGU) and submit necessary reports.


III. Qualifications

  • Must possess at least a Bachelor/College Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, Construction, or equivalent.
  • With at least 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Safety Officer in construction projects.
  • Must have completed the 40-hour Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training.
  • Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and walk downs.
  • Has knowledge or experience in fire protection and fighting systems.
  • Must have average to excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to work overtime and/or with minimum supervision. Also likes challenges, dedicated, hardworking, honest and responsible, keen to details, team player, fast learner and can accept criticisms.
  • Preferably with Loss Control Management(LCM) and HIRAC Certificate
  • Computer literate and proficient in safety reporting and documentation.
