Description
- Receive and review claims documents and coordinate with claimants
- Interview claimant(s) and/or witnesses to gather pertinent information
- Conduct an actual investigation or inspection to determine the veracity of the loss and the extent of the insurance company's liability concerning personal, casualty, or property loss or damages
- Gather pertinent documents and examine their validity and consistency
- Verify the coverage applies through an insurance policy and its premium payment
- Evaluate the loss to ascertain the compensation amount or the company's liability
- Conduct necessary canvassing of parts prices relating to the claims filed
- Negotiate the assessment with the claimant to settle the claim
- Prepare and/or issue Evaluation, Final Offer, Letter of Authority to Repair, and/or Final Recommendation for payment
- Prepare and send Denial Letters and/or Demand Letter in the case of denied and with recovery claims.
- Segregate claims documents for forwarding to accounting and/or to head office
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 1-2 years of experience in claims processing, investigation, or related insurance functions is an advantage
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with claimants, witnesses, and internal teams
- Ability to conduct on-site investigations or inspections for personal, casualty, or property claims
- Proficient in gathering, reviewing, and validating pertinent documents
- Knowledgeable in interpreting insurance policies, coverages, and premium payments
- Capable of evaluating losses and determining appropriate compensation or company liability
- Skilled in negotiating and handling claims settlements with claimants
- Proficient in preparing evaluation reports, settlement offers, repair authorizations, and other necessary claims documentation
- Ability to prepare Denial and Demand Letters when applicable
- Organized and systematic in handling and segregating claims documents for accounting and head office processing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
