Description

  • Reports to: Shift Supervisor and Branch Manager
  • Job Overview: The cashier is responsible for processing cash, debit, credit, and check transactions using a cash register or other point-of-sale system in a retail environment. Their duties include balancing the cash register, making change, recording purchases, processing returns and scanning items for sale. 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service by greeting guests, answering questions about menu items, and assisting with any inquiries or concerns customers may have.
  • Accurately ring up orders using a point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring that all items are correctly entered and priced. This includes processing cash, credit card, and other forms of payment securely.
  • Handles cash transactions, including receiving payments, making change, and reconciling cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy.
  • Has a good understanding of the menu, including prices, specials, and promotions, so they can effectively communicate this information to customers and answer any questions they may have.
  • Promotes special menu items, combos, or promotions to customers to increase sales and enhance the dining experience. They may also encourage customers to participate in loyalty programs or sign up for newsletters.
  • Ensures that orders are entered accurately into the POS system and that customers receive the correct items and quantities they ordered.
  • Keeps their workstation clean and organized, including the cash register area and surrounding areas, to ensure a tidy and professional appearance.
  • Communicates with other restaurant staff, including servers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication throughout the establishment.
