Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Calibration and Testing: Calibrate, test, and troubleshoot various instruments, including pressure, flow, temperature, and level sensors, to ensure accurate readings and control.
  • Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair instrumentation and control devices, including transmitters, controllers, and recorders, in line with industry standards.
  • Commissioning Support: Assist in commissioning activities by verifying instrument functionality, calibrating as needed, and ensuring proper integration with control systems.
  • Loop Checking: Conduct loop checks to verify the communication between field instruments and the control system.


Technical Responsibilities:

  • Wiring and Termination: Perform wiring, cable pulling, and termination for both electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Conduit Work: Install conduits (EMT, IMC, PVC, etc.) for electrical and instrumentation cabling.
  • Loop Checking: Conduct loop checks to verify communication between instruments and control systems.
  • Power and Signal Testing: Use test equipment such as multimeters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes for electrical and signal testing.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with engineers, electricians, and instrumentation technicians on system integration and troubleshooting.
  • System Upgrades: Assist with the implementation of system upgrades and retrofitting activities.
  • Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to equipment failures or emergencies to minimize production downtime.
  • Adherence to Standards: Work in compliance with electrical (e.g., NEC/IEC) and instrumentation standards.

Requirements

  • Certification: Must hold an NCII Certificate in Instrumentation and Control or equivalent.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and field communication protocols such as HART, Foundation Fieldbus, or Profibus.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy in calibration and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve issues in a timely manner.
