Description

  • Identify problems: Use diagnostic tools to identify problems with a vehicle
  • Plan work: Use technical manuals, charts, and experience to plan work procedures
  • Perform maintenance: Perform basic maintenance like oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotations
  • Repair or replace parts: Replace worn-out parts like brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors
  • Explain problems to customers: Explain problems and repairs to customers
  • Provide price estimates: Evaluate costs and provide price estimates to customers for repairs
  • Update vehicle records: Update vehicle log books and provide paperwork to customers

Requirements

  • Automotive technicians may be exposed to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
  • They may need to perform heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling
